Concentration Strategies



Defination of Concentration
The action or power of focusing one's attention or mental effort
Focus
Causes of poor concentration
Ø Lack of attention
Ø Lack of interest
Ø Lack of motivation
Ø Distration from others
Ø Uncomfortable environment
Ø Physiological matters such as illness
Ø Psychological matters such as anxieties


How to Improve Concentration:
Ø Create an interest in something.
Ø  Create a positive learning environment
Ø  Solve internal problems
Ø  Use active learning skill such as discussed with group
Ø  Monitor your concentration
Ø  Body is in good position and in the pink of condition.
Ø Exercise

Memory Strategies

Why Human is Special ?

Because we have mind to think.
Human have 3 times bigger brain than a gorila
Because we have memory

Memory VS Brain
Ø Memory can keep,save,protect and remember any information or moments.Memory can be lost if we not keep it going what we have learnt.
Ø Brain is an organ. Brain is a main system, if its get damage, whole system

Application:
Memory just like Computer software and Brain is Computer Hardware.
Computer software can save,protect and keep data safe in the computer. The data can be lost if there is some virus attacking.
Computer Hardware is a main system. If the hardware get broken, the whole system will not be functioned.

Memory Strategies
1. Setting Your mind before doing something.
2. Trust your own Memory. Faith is important!
3. Love it, Repeat, and make Exercise to make our mind remember about something.

Type of Memory:
ü Sensory Memory(SM)
² Temporary
² If not concentrate, the memory will lost
ü Short Term Memory(STM)
² Temporary for 20 sec to 24hours
² A part from SM
² The memory will lost if we don’t rehearsel
ü Long Term Memory(LTM)
² Long-lasting
² Depends on somebody to recall it



To improve memory we can use:

Ø Massed practice (Not recommended)
Ø Spaced practise(Recommended)
Ø Break readinng
Ø Rehearsel(10 Times)
Ø Use Acronyms-eg.UiTM=University Tecnology MARA
Ø Use Acrostics
Ø Use Mnemonic- make it funny to easily remember
Ø Mapping

What is Goals?
Something that we want to archive

Long Term Goals
Ø The goals that need time to be archived. It can not be done in this week or year. It requires a lot of time and needs to do some planning.
Ø For example, To be an accountant

Short Term Goals.
ü The goals that need a short time to archive within a week or year.
For instance, to get 4 flat in every semester.

Academic Goals
Ø The goals to archive a good mark in education
For example, to be a vice chancellor in University or getting good results in any subjects

Personal Goals
Ø The goals that satisfied and benefits us.
For example, to achieve ambition or to make parents proud of us.

STEP 1: Tentative Goal Statement:
Ø I want to be a calibre accountant who can help  others people and be useful to country
STEP 2: List of Obstacles:

1. To Complete the Diploma/Degree/ACCA

2. There are  a lot of Competitors


3. Lack of soft skill
4. Lack of confident
5. A lot of assignments/task

3. Activity from Club
4. Advice from Best Friends
5. Helps from Friends
   STEP 4: List Your Motivation:  
Stay Positive !! work hard!! and make it happen
Keep in Faith and trust your ability
Winners Don’t wait for a chance, They take them.
   STEP 5: Revised Goal Statement:
Ø I want to be a calibre accountant who can be useful to the country by overcoming all the obstacles with getting help from my resources.


Steps to Accomplish my Goal:

1.  Study hard and complete the Diploma on time.
2. Gain Softskills as many as I can for better future.
3. Gain the confident by joining many activities club.
4. To be a Dean in the university by gaining 4 flat in all main subject in every semester.
5. Compete with others competitors and be the best among the best.
